The department has operated independently since May 2020, formerly known as the Political Group of the Public Teaching and Research Section and the Moral Education Teaching and Research Group of the Ministry of Basic Education. At present, there are 3 teaching and research sections in the department, namely, Mao Zedong Thought and Socialist Theory System with Chinese Characteristics, Ideological Morality &Rule of Law, and Situation & Policy.

The department has a team of full-time ideological and political teachers with firm stance, rich experience and full of vitality. The party branch where it is located won the Title of Outstanding Grass-roots Party Branch in the 2021 “July 1” Commendation. The department won the Title of Advanced Anti-epidemic Collective due to the outstanding results of online teaching work during the epidemic in 2020. Teachers have won awards in the Provincial Informatization Teaching Competition and Provincial Teaching Ability Competition. Students’ work “China Renaissance Picture” instructed by teachers won the first prize in the 2nd National Universities Students’ Ideological and Political Art Works Exhibition.
