A.Application for Residence Permit

International students must apply for a residence permit at the Exit-Entry Administration of Changzhou Public Security Bureau within 30 days after entering the country with an X1 visa. Required documents as follows:

1. Theoriginal and a copy of the valid passport (must hold an ordinary passport) and visa of the student;

2. The official letter from the school and the “Admission Notice” indicating the duration of study;

3. The original “Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China”(JW202 Form);

4. The completed Application Form for Visa and Residence Permit for Foreigners,pasted with one recent two-inch frontal and bareheaded photo with a white background;

5. Certificate of temporary accommodation registration;

6. For applicants whose study period exceeds one year and who are over 18 years old, the original Certificate of Verification of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners is also required.

B.Application for Replacement of Residence Permit

In addition to the above-mentioned documents, international students holding a new passport must also provide the following documents when applying for a replacement residence permit:

1. If you receive a new passport due to loss of your passport, you must provide a certificate of lost passport issued by the exit-entry administration of the public security.

2. If you receive a new passport because your passport is about to expire or you have run out of visa pages, you must provide the passport you were holding at the time of entry.

C.Caution

1.International students holding a residence permit can stay in China during the validity period of the residence permit, or they can enter and leave China multiple times.

2. International students who need to stay or reside in Changzhou after the expiration of the visa or residence permit must apply for extension at the Exit-Entry Administration of Changzhou Public Security Bureau before the expiration.

3. The application for residence permit must be paid in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Exit-Entry Administration of Changzhou Public Security Bureau.

4. International students are not allowed to work or be employed in China if the reason for their stay is "study".

5. The public security authorities will punish the foreigners or responsible persons for illegal residence or other illegal acts in China according to the law.

6. The Exit-Entry Administration of the Public Security Bureau has the right to refuse to issue foreigners’ visas and documents according to the law, and to revoke or declare the issued visas and documents invalid.
