School of Civil Engineering

Since the college’s establishment in 1986, the School of Civil Engineering has been a cornerstone of institutional strength. It offers programs including Construction Engineering Technology, Prefabricated Building Engineering Technology, Building Steel Structure Engineering Technology, Underground and Tunnel Engineering Technology, Road and Bridge Engineering Technology, and Smart Construction Technology. Adhering to the philosophy of "cultivating craftsmanship spirit, skills, ethics, and professionalism," the college has developed a distinctive education model centered on artisan culture.

The school hosts national and provincial experimental training platforms, including the National Training Base for World Skills Competition (Concrete Category) and two gold/silver medal teams in Chinese Vocational Skills Competitions. Provincial facilities include the sole Modern Construction Industry Talent Training Base, Construction Worker Skills Competition Training Base, Integrated Building Industrialization Training Platform, Prefabricated Building Technology Industry-Education Integration Platform, and Model Training Base for Modern Construction Specialized Competencies.

Faculty members possess robust theoretical foundations and extensive teaching/practical experience. The school employs 63 staff, including 46 full-time teachers: 1 professor, 14 associate professors, 5 senior engineers, 7 PhD holders, and 39 master’s degree holders. Among them, 32 are dual-qualified with certifications such as Class-1 Registered Architect, Geotechnical Engineer, and Constructor.

Faculty and students have garnered numerous awards in skills competitions, including a silver medal in Concrete Construction at the First National Vocational Skills Competition, gold medal in the Second National Competition, "Jiangsu Skill Champion" titles at the 5th and 6th Jiangsu Skill Masters Competitions, top placements in the Jiangsu Million Urban-Rural Construction Workers Skills Competition, and first prize in the National Prefabricated Building Vocational Skills Competition.

Guided by the principles of "Quality Foundation, Professional Excellence, and Ethical Education," the school prioritizes employability and vocational competency. It implements student-centered curriculum reforms featuring industry-academia integration and diverse pedagogical approaches such as project-based learning, task-driven instruction, and case studies.

The school has cultivated generations of skilled professionals for frontline construction, production, and management roles. Graduates consistently achieve over 95% employment rates, with many becoming technical leaders and core contributors in the construction industry.
