On May 18, the 2026 Jiangsu “Belt and Road” Youth Sports Exchange Week, jointly organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Sports Bureau, the Provincial Department of Education, and the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, kicked off in Jingjiang, Taizhou. Our college sent 18 international students in two teams to participate in two events: Orienteering Training Camp and Outdoor Sports Challenge.

International students from the School of Public Utilities took part in the Orienteering Training Camp, a discipline that demands high levels of physical endurance, direction judgment, and teamwork. On the competition field, the team members were energetic and collaborative, supporting each other through complex terrains and overcoming various challenges together, demonstrating a strong spirit of unity and perseverance. Among them, Odilzoda Numon stood out with his outstanding performance and won the first prize in the event. International students from the School of Civil Engineering participated in the Outdoor Sports Challenge. Facing comprehensive obstacle settings and outdoor tasks, the team members kept pushing their limits and successfully completed the entire competition. With their tenacious willpower and tacit coordination, they were awarded the “Sportsmanship Award”. Throughout the four days of competition, our international students fought hard, not only achieving impressive results but also fully displaying the international characteristics of our college's education and the positive and enterprising spirit of its young students.

It is worth mentioning that Sharipov Suvaido, an international student of our college, was originally a reserve player for the national football team of Tajikistan. During the event, he was interviewed by Jiangsu Sports and Leisure Channel, where he talked fluently in Chinese about his competition experience and his study and life in China. It is reported that he trained for a month last year with Changzhou Team of the Jiangsu Province Football Super League. He was deeply impressed by China's sports atmosphere and urban development. In the interview, he said, “I hope both Changzhou and Taizhou achieve good results this year.” His story has become a vivid illustration of our college's commitment to cultivating “China-knowing and China-friendly” international youth.

In addition to the competition, the students participated in an on-site study tour organized by the event host, visiting the Yangtze River Culture Exhibition Hall and a local manufacturing enterprise. They gained a close-up understanding of the thousand-year cultural heritage of the Yangtze River and experienced the unique charm of regional culture, while also observing production processes on site and witnessing the development achievements of China’s manufacturing industry.

This event is not only a sports competition but also a vivid lesson in international understanding and cultural exchange. Our School of International Education will take this opportunity to continue encouraging and supporting international students to actively participate in various sports, cultural, and social practice activities, tempering their will through physical exercise, enhancing friendship through collaboration and competition, and gaining a deeper understanding of China through hands-on experiences. We are committed to deepening people-to-people exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative and contributing youthful strength to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
